We are in preparation for eternal life when our earth suit stops working. We are a spirit (God is a spirit), we possess a soul (mind, emotions and will) and we live in a body (earth suit). If today is all there is, we are of all people most hopeless. God did make us all to live eternally with Him. Our here and now is a gift from God, sorry if you don’t believe that Heather and others. Too often we hurt those around us because we are oblivious to the subtleties of interpersonal relationships that need to be nurtured here as part of our responsibility in the present. If we were more emotionally and intellectually honest with ourselves, we would acknowledge that our faith does not grant us freedom to ignore the here and now by virtue of our hope in the eternal.
